2015 — It started with a problem

It started with a problem. I wanted to take my newborn baby daughter, Everly, on a hike in Big Sur, but the path was closed and in disrepair. As I stood there with her strapped to my chest, I couldn’t help but wonder: would my favorite trails exist for her to explore when she grew up? That question stuck with me. It led to many late nights digging into the problem, and eventually, a simple but powerful idea emerged: what if we could create a business that inspires people to love parks and gives them the tools to protect them?

2016 — Mission was born: Leave It Better Than You Found It™

Turning the idea into reality meant getting out into parks to see firsthand what they needed. From restoring trails in Point Reyes to planting native species in the Los Angeles Mountains, and rebuilding habitats in Muir Woods, we saw an opportunity: by funding projects in the parks, we could make a meaningful impact—not just on the parks themselves, but also on the communities coming together to care for them. That’s when our mission solidified—Leave It Better Than You Found It™.

2018 — Parks was featured in Forbes

Our growth got a little kickstart from Forbes which equated to more giveback to the parks.

2019 — Parks Project x National Geographic

Our first collaboration! From local pop-ups to global collaborations—every success meant more opportunities to give back and support the parks that inspire us. More growth to a small but mighty team of 20 equated to more impact in the parks!

2022 — Parks Project named Top 10 Most Innovative Retailer by Fast Company

We decided the best way to fund these projects was to create a fresh & new outdoor lifestyle mission driven brand—designing products inspired by parks and the outdoor spaces we loved. We started small, screen-printing tees in the corner of a warehouse and selling them to friends, at pop-ups, and to a few retailers we knew. The sale of which helped us start giving back to parks. As people discovered the brand and shared the story, the enthusiasm grew—and so did we.

2025 — 10 Years of Leave It Better™!

Thanks to everything you’ve done, Parks Project has grown into something really special over the last 10 years. It’s not just a brand—it’s a vision for the future where parks thrive, communities grow stronger, and people come together to make a real difference. When you join us, you’re not just helping parks—you’re making sure the next generation, like me, can enjoy them too. You’re showing us how to care for the earth, nature, and each other so we can be the positive change the world needs. This is just the beginning, and I’m so excited to see what we can do together next.
